What the demo shows

Browse the YouTube homepage, read summaries under available videos, and open Ask AI for The Early-Stage Startup Squiggle with Elad Gil. The panel shows the video category, analysis fit, main takeaway, and topics with timestamps. Open the video to continue exploring its questions, then visit onmian.com for the extension download. Loading and retry states can occur.

Another YouTube AI summary tool? Maybe.

This started as a personal note-taking companion for My First Million. I’d pause an episode, take notes, grab a screenshot, look up an unfamiliar term, and continue. Sometimes I spent almost as much time interrupting the conversation as watching it.

The first version helped me collect the useful bits, but it felt stitched together and a little bloated. I kept working on it.

Now the experience starts a step earlier: on the homepage, while I’m deciding what deserves my time. My feed is full of startup stories, founder interviews, and AI discussions. Before opening another hour-long conversation, I want more to go on than its title and thumbnail.

What’s changed

A redesigned Ask AI panel
A clearer reading flow, from the main takeaway to the details, alongside the YouTube page you’re already using.
A preview before you commit
Summaries appear beneath available homepage videos. Open Ask AI to explore a more detailed preview, then carry the panel into the watch page.
Topics you can actually scan
A high-level summary and a breakdown with timestamps make it easier to see which parts of a conversation matter to you.
Questions without the blank prompt box
Questions are generated from the video’s content. YouTube’s own AI provides the video analysis, giving you a useful place to start.
A clearer indication of fit
Category labels are attributed to YouTube AI, with its reported confidence. The panel explains whether the video fits the detailed startup and founder analysis.

In the demo, the Elad Gil conversation covers founder-market fit, early customer feedback, hype cycles, momentum, and funding. Questions such as “How do you distinguish between real and fake user feedback?” make those topics more concrete before I settle in to watch.

Still early access. Here’s what to expect.

The detailed experience is focused on startup stories and founder interviews. Other categories may have limited analysis. YouTube’s native AI must be available for your account and the video.

Some requests need a retry, and a detailed summary may not appear on the first attempt. Improving that reliability is still part of the work.

The extension is free. Saved questions, answers, and feedback are stored locally on your device; AI requests go to YouTube. Optional email recaps require a connected service and verification. Installing the extension does not subscribe you to emails.

The website was part of the experiment, too.

You’ll see onmian.com at the end of the recording. I’d already purchased the domain. The landing page was built locally and its code pushed to GitHub; deployment to Vercel and domain setup through Cloudflare were handled using AI computer use.

The agent worked through the setup in the browser. I didn’t have to manually click through the hosting and domain dashboards—a practical extension of the same experiment in building and shipping with AI.

How to install
  1. Download and extract the ZIP.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked and select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
  4. Open YouTube and try Ask AI on an available video.
